SOCI ETY FOR URBAN POOR PEOPLE AND OPERATIVE RURAL TRANSFORMATION (SUPPORT) is principally a development agency and also offering consultancy services to other grass- root development institutions in south coastal Andhra Pradesh, India. Launched in the year 1997 by a core group of development professionals in various related lines of development viz., Health, Education, Social Work, Agriculture, sociology etc., the agency has acquired credibility and acclaim through the implementation of various proactive development initiatives.
SUPPORT has been actively working in the areas of Health, Education, Micro Finance, Livelihoods, Water and Sanitation, PWDs Empowerment, Networking etc., for the past 26 years in Andhra Pradesh.
The organization is also familiar with various research tools in implementing the assigned projects by the donor agencies.

During 2024-25, SUPPORT in collaboration with Enable India, Banglore and RSETI, Nellore initiated PwDs Rural Livelihoods Programme in Nellore District. The programme aims to create eco-system and develop Entrepreneur Skills through EDP Trainings for the persons with disabilities and extended mechanism to create the appropriate livelihood opportunities for their sustainable living standards. During 2024-25 and 2025-26, in convergence with District Rural Development Agency and Local Banks, SUPPORT has facilitated 142 PwDs to avail loaning and create livelihoods in the areas. Micro finance activity to lend money for small investment needs for the vulnerable women and disabled in the district for various livelihood activities with a portfolio of 2.5 Crore during 2007 - 2012. Through this initiative, 138 vulnerable dalith women accessed the loan and invested for various enterprises in the rural areas of Nellore and leading sustainable life with self-dignity. Organising Fisher Folk Single Women and people with Disabilities into SHGs through Institution Building towards their sustainable socio-economic development through micro enterprising in 10 coastal fisher folk villages of Nellore district under CSR of KCT. Supported by: Karamchand Thappers Group-Bombay
Organizing people with Disabilities to form into Self Help Groups towards their Socio - Economic Development through micro enterprising in Nellore, Venkatagiri, Tenali, Bapatla and Repalle Towns of Nellore and Guntur Districts during 2007 and the interventions are still going on. The SHGs are facilitated and linked with the local banks for availing loans for establishing various enterprises. The SHGs federations are capacitated and monitored by MEPMA and SUPPORT on periodical basis. Supported by: MEPMA-Govt. of AP
Implemented Water and Sanitation Project in 4 Tsunami affected villages through building the capacities of the communities to practice safe sanitary methods and by providing drinking water facility through “community managed Protected Water Supply Scheme” constructed by SUPPORT during 2007 – 2012 with the participation of communities. Around 850 families are availing drinking water facility at their door steps.
Promoting appropriate livelihoods for income generation among coastal fisher folk women and people with disablities through various leverages with local banks, other donor agencies and Govt. agencies during the period and the intervention is still in continuation with the support of the CBOs in the 10 coastal villages. SUPPORT continuously addresses the need of the communities and strengthening the CBOs through capacity building trainings. Supported by: CARE India-Chennai.
SUPPORT is the LEAD PARTENER for Clinton Foundation- USA to implement Clinton’s HIV/AIDS Initiative project (CHAI) in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana through a network of 37 NGOs. Provided psycho social care, travel support to ART centers and nutritional support to 1360 Children Living with HIV/AIDS and accessed other Govt. Welfare Services like pensions etc. to their families during 2007 - 2012. After completion of the project period by Clinton Foundation, the 37 Implementing Partners taken over the initiative to support their HIV Children with the support of Govt. and other donor agencies. Worked with vulnerable Street Children of Nellore Corporation along with their sexual partners to address their sexual health problems through behavior change communication, STI care and treatment, Condom promotion, Enabling Environment etc., to prevent HIV/AIDS among them during 2000 - 2007.
Worked with Injecting Drug Users (IDUS) of Nellore Corporation along with their sexual partners to address their sexual health problems through Harm reduction strategy, Needle Syringe exchange programme, abscess management, Substitution therapy, drop-in center, STI care and treatment, Condom promotion, Enabling Environment etc., to prevent HIV/AIDS and blood born diseases among them during 2008 - 2022. Organized an Urban Health Centre in Nellore Corporation where around 24000 poor urban slum dwellers avail free medical services and preventive health services through various intervention strategies with main Focus on Reproductive and Child Health services during 2000 - 2016. Rehabilitated Children from Rag Picking Community by organizing a special Child Labor Bridge School with nutritional and Schooling Support in a typical slum to mainstream them into regular schools in Nellore Corporation during 1999 -2015. Created livelihoods for their parents with the Support of DRDA-Nellore. Supported by: National Child Labour Project-GoI

• Organised Needs Assessment Studies during implementation of HIV related projects funded by NACO, New Delhi.
• Organised a study on Housing loans on behalf of INHAF, Bangalore.
• Organised Needs Assessment Study on Iodine usage among the poor communities on behalf of New Concept, Chennai, in Nellore, Prakasam and Srikakulam districts of AP.
• Organised a Needs Assessment Study on behalf of Karam Chand Thappers Group, Bombay, in the coastal village of Nellore district for implementing CSR initiatives.
• Organised end line survey to Dev Insights, New Delhi on TB related Pratam project Telangana Districts.
• Organised Social Research Study on Solar Energy in 3 Districts i.e., Nellore, Tirupathi, Chittoor for ISRF Chennai.
SUPPORT has very good rapport with the District Administration and allied departments to access various activities particularly to the women, disabled and children. The organization has also access with the District and Mandal level community based organizations. SUPPORT has acquired credibility in the District Administration by implementing various pro development activities
